Craigslist Formatting Changes Affects Housing Ads
You might have noticed that last week Craigslist started making changes to its real estate listings. Formatting of property flyers has been greatly affected, changing the way your real estate agents post ads.
Here’s the lowdown:
All posting guidelines have been changed. Per Craigslist: “IMG, FONT, TABLE, DIV, and SPAN tags are no longer supported in the for sale categories. Please use CL image upload for images.” Anytime you want to upload an image you now have to use their upload button. This causes issues for those pre-made templates as they will no longer work. Craigslist will be making the changes site-wide, under all Sales categories.
What does this mean for you?
If a real estate agent use property flyers that have been pre-made they will no longer work on Craigslist. In order for you to have a real estate listing you now can only add photos if you upload them via Craigslist. HTML no longer works as well, so all of your photos and text are more important than ever.
What are your realtor’s options?
Create all ads with text-only options. Any of your previously posted ads need to be deleted or updated to text-only. It is more important than ever that you craft your Craigslist ads properly because now you do not have the rich graphic content to do all of the work for you.
Hyperlinks no longer work but you can still add the full link into the ad. A hyperlink means you could easily say “for more information, go here.” Now you will have to put “for more information, visit the website at http://www.1122mainstreet.com/.” This gives you the opportunity to create outstanding landing pages, influencing your online presence.
